Mobiles and my life
By Dong Wei

Mobile phones, which have become so familiar to human beings, are making inroads into every aspect of our daily lives. People are using them not only as a tool to make appointments or inform people of something, but also as a part of their everyday lifestyle. I am quite sure that many people will remember a film called "Mobile", by the famous Chinese director—Feng Xiaogang. The movie reflected on how mobile phones are affecting and how they are going to affect modern citizens. The hero of the film, Ge You, a very skillful and talented actor, represented both the negative and positive sides of mobile phones through his excellent performance.
With the modernization of our society, mobiles are becoming more and more a symbol of modern life, and the appearance of short messages serves as the best example to support such a stance. As we all know, what we call a "short-message storm" has emerged in Chinese people's lives. It is now very fashionable to send messages to your friends and families instead of calling. Whenever you surf on the internet in Chinese, you will see various kinds of advertisements for short message services. These ads have become an industry that protects many internet-based companies from disappearing. In a word, this short-message industry is becoming more and more mature and its future, it seems so to me, is limited only by your imagination.
We have just discussed something about the affect of mobile phones on our society. Now let's dig out the influence they have on individual human existence. As we are all members of a society, mobiles will definitely have a dramatic impact on all of us. There is a simple example. As I am still a university student, one of my best friends, whose name I should keep secret, fell in love with a girl. Right now you may be puzzled about how this could be related to mobiles or short messages. But the rub was that my friend is a shy boy, whose face would turn red and whose head would lower down as soon as he saw the girl, so he couldn't express his love. However, can you imagine how they finally got together? I should say that it was all because of short messages. Through short messages, they talked to each other for about a month. Therefore, when they had a date for the first time, they already knew each other very well. It wasn't a problem for them to keep on talking using trembling words.

From what has been discussed, we can safely draw the conclusion that mobiles really have a great influence on our lives and on us.
