Tsinghua campus praised
Beijing’s Tsinghua University was selected as one of the “world’s most beautiful campuses” in a Forbes article earlier this month. Among the 14 campuses selected, ten were from America, three from Europe and one from Asia.
Forbes invited a panel of architects and campus designers to evaluate and nominate their choice for the most visually pleasing campuses. According to the article, clear organization and a consistent architectural style are critical for an aesthetically pleasing campus, as is the natural environment.
Established in 1925, the campus of Tsinghua University is located on the former site of Qing Dynasty royal gardens in northwest Beijing. Featuring lotus ponds surrounded by examples of traditional Chinese architecture, the campus organically mixes Western styles in buildings like the university’s auditorium.
“I am so happy to hear the news, I have been studying at Tsinghua for almost eight years,” said Hu Hao, an instrumental science majored doctoral candidate at Tsinghua University. “No matter how anyone else sees it, it’s definitely the most beautiful campus to me.”
