    As of the end of 2009, Fujian had granted 2,159 requests to reclaim 8,540 hectares of ocean. The province charged a total of 1.1 billion yuan, or 1.1 times more than 2008, for the use of reclaimed land. Last year, Fujian reclaimed 1,751 hectares of land and extended loans of 1.6 billion yuan, with sea water use rights held as security.
