A press photo exhibition titled “China from the 50’s to Now” opened in Brussels last week as a part of the ongoing Europalia-China Art Festival. The exhibition was organized by the European Regional Bureau of the state-run Xinhua News Agency in cooperation with the Wallonia-Brussels promotion office of tourism. The exhibit will run through February 13.
Approximately 200 pictures were chosen from the four million images in Xinhua’s photo archives. According to the organizers, the selected photographs cover the sixty-year development of the People’s Republic of China. The photos focus on the daily life of ordinary citizens.
The Europalia-China art festival officially opened in Brussels last October. It is the largest overseas cultural event organized by China in the past five years. “China is a big country with its own culture,” said Claude Maitin, who visited the exhibition. He added that cultural exchange between China and Europe is of vital importance to continued positive relations.
