Jazz piano concert visits Xiamen
On the night of December 16, a jazz piano concert featuring Japanese musician Keiko Borjeson was held in Hongtai Concert Hall. A departure from the more reserved and formulated conventional concert music, Ms. Borjeson’s delightful performance refreshed local audience’s sensational experiences. Her engaging performing style encouraged the audience to participate in the performance and fostered communication on and off the stage.
A pianist, vocalist, composer and concert master, Ms. Borjeson showed her music talent in early childhood and received extensive education in classical piano playing and chamber music. She once performed with the Nippon Symphony Orchestra and has made frequent appearances in piano concerts home and abroad. Her elegant and vibrant performing style is considered to be influenced by upper-class jazz. One of the legendary figures in the history of American jazz music, Hank Jones, once commented on Ms. Borjeson as one of the most creative musicians that he has ever known -- “Performing between outrageous innovation and enlightening joyfulness might sound contradictory, however, she strikes an amazing balance with her magic touch.”
Ms. Borjeson is currently planning to visit Xiamen again next month to give more performances to local audiences.
