厦门的非物质文化遗产名目繁多，内容涉及民间音乐、民间舞蹈、传统戏剧、曲艺、民俗等形式，十分丰富。其中国家级和省级非物质文化遗产就各有9项和12项。

    The concept of intangible cultural heritage is defined as the practices, traditions and expressions of a group, as well as the knowledge and skills that communities and groups recognize as part of their intellectual legacy.

    Xiamen’s intangible cultural heritage covers the history and cultural traditions of the city and the southern Fujian region, many of which are in danger of extinction. Lacquer sculpture, Gezi opera and Nanyin music have been official recognized as national-level intangible cultural heritage. Southern Fujian shadow play, bead embroidery and 10 more items have been recognized at the provincial level as intangible cultural heritage.
