    Sexually transmitted diseases (STDs) are continuing to rise in Great Britain, especially among the young, with the number of new cases reaching almost half a million a year, official figures have shown. Women aged 19 and men aged between 20 and 23 are at greatest risk of contracting an infection, according to data from Britain’s Health Protection Agency.
