巡游世博--Russia Pavilion
Famed Russian writer Nikolay Nosov once said that the best city in the world should be the favorite one among children. In his Adventures of Dunno and His Friends, he imagined a flower city that captured the hearts of his readers.
Based on the conception of Mr. Nosov, the Russia Pavilion presents an ideal fairyland city that is a children’s paradise. It features 12 irregularly shaped towers in white, red and gold. A 15-meter-tall central building dubbed the “Civilization Cube” links the towers.
With their irregular shapes, the 20-meter towers are nestled in a verdant landscape. The towers form a circle that mimics the contours of a famous Russian dance. The roofs of the towers are decorated with colorful images widely used for traditional Russian garments, symbolizing the integration the country’s various ethnic groups.
Giant strawberries, flowers and trees in the pavilion evoke a comfortable city seen through the eyes of a child. Visitors travel along the path as if in a fairy tale, encountering giant plants along the way. The path moves through sections highlighting progress in different areas of Russia’s development.
The main exhibition area of the Russia Pavilion consists of three parts -- the City for Children, the City for Youth and the Big World. Before entering the pavilion, visitors are advised to envision themselves as Dunno and his friends while touring the fairy-tale city.
