 巡游世博--Swiss pavilion

Switzerland’s World Expo pavilion highlights modern Swiss innovation and the pursuit of quality and sustainable development.

An interactive facade envelops the pavilion in a curtain of woven aluminum elements under which visitors pass to access the urban area on the ground floor of the building. A combination of solar panels and LED lights illuminate the front surface and serve as a power source. The energy produced is made visible in the form of flashes triggered by interaction with guests --  the flash of a camera triggers a response by the lights. The lights also interact with each other at night.

The pavilion’s architects have created a space that highlights the relationship between town and country by serving as a hybrid construct of technology and nature. Harmonious interaction between urban and rural areas is symbolized by a circular pathway that moves back and forth between the urban and rural areas via a double-helix system of ramps and a circular chair-lift.

The design is in keeping with the Expo’s theme of a balance between people, nature and technology. At the end of the exhibition area ramp is a 10-meter-high projection screen on which an Imax film entitled The Alps showcases Swiss mountain scenery.
