巡游世博--Greece pavilion
Greek architect Alexandros Tombazis focused in the design of the Greece Pavilion on re-creating of a characteristic Greek city in an artistic manner that is still grounded in reality.
The Greek pavilion is the country’s response to the Expo’s theme of quality urban life. “We have covered the outside with pictures that have to do with Greece and the theme in different shades of blue and warm colors to give the light of the Mediterranean,” said Mr. Tombazis. “We organized the interior with streets, a main square, a waterfront and different building blocks that serve as projection rooms for the presentation of our theme,” he further explained.
The presentation recreates the life of a day in a Greek city. The pavilion begins in the morning and divided into four periods so that the visitor can have an idea what is going on at the same time in Greece. The lighting changes according to the actual time of day.
The five themes of the Greek pavilion are: rural-urban, city-sea, prosperity, ecology and living together, said Mr. Tombazis and his associate, Nikos Vratsanos. The building was constructed to consume 20 percent less energy consumption than the average building in Athens.
