Review:
The 40-Year-Old Virgin is surprisingly insightful, and it has a good heart and a lovable hero.

Just Like Heaven (2005)

Introduction:
In "Just Like Heaven," a man falls in love with a woman only he can see. She's not a ghost, because she's not dead, but a spirit. Why is she visible only to him? In a movie like this, close examination of the logic of the premises would be unkind. It is better to accept them and enjoy the film's charm and warmth.
Review:
Just Like Heaven is a chick filck that is cheerful, funny, and lovable and very much like a Sleeping Beauty story.

Lord of War (2005)

Introduction:

Review:
"Lord of War" looks like a mainstream thriller, but it has a serious core, and under Andrew Niccol's direction succeeds in being entertaining and thought provoking.

Transporter 2 (2005)

Introduction:
Retired in Miami, ex-Special Forces operative Frank Martin makes a living driving for the wealthy Billings family. He's a huge favorite with their two small boys, but when the kids are kidnapped and injected with a potentially fatal virus, Frank defies the FBI and works relentlessly to get the boys to safety and discover the kidnapper's master plan.
Review:
"Transporter 2" is better than the original for a number of reasons.

The Exorcism of Emily Rose (2005)

Introduction:
The film is based on the true story of a priest who was accused of murder after a teenage girl died during an exorcism. If the priest is correct and the girl was possessed by a demon, he is innocent. If the authorities called by the prosecution are correct, she died of psychotic epileptic disorder, and the priest created complications leading to her death.
Review:
Intriguing and perplexing.

Charlie and the Chocolate Factory

After Edward Scissorshands and the big hit Big Fish, here comes another Tim Burton movie, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, which leads you on another journey into the human heart. The dream team of Johnny Depp and director Tim Burton transforms the classic children's book into a new film and a must-see for both children and grown-ups. Funny, entertaining, a little eccentric but heart-warming, Charlie and the Chocolate factory is a great experience.

Poor boy Charlie Bucket, along with other four children, wins a golden ticket to a tour of a mysterious, eccentric chocolate factory. The first four children who find the golden tickets all have defects in their characters and during the tour meet their downfalls. They teach us a variety of lessons on the dangers of gluttony, greed, arrogance, and plain old rudeness.

The tour in the factory is full of many oddly funny and extraordinary characters and sets, just like the werewolves, witches and giants in Big Fish; the Oompa Loompas, the chocolate waterfall, the all-edible room, the puppet hospital and the flying elevator and many others. It is certainly educational with a clear moral, but it is also very entertaining. You will find echoes of 2001 A Space Odyssey, and the Oompa Loompa rock band mimic real life band Kiss. Though not a musical like the 1971 adaptation, there are many songs and musical set-pieces.
