August 13, south China's Fujian Province launched emergency counter-measures in reaction to the coming of tropical storm Sanvu. The tropical storm passed through the coastal areas of southern Fujian and Guangdong provinces with windspeeds of up to 20 meters per second from the afternoon of August 13 to 14. In Quanzhou,cyclists and pedestrians caught in the storm faced torrential rain, strong winds and flying debris.
