Healthy careers rewarded

怎样的生活最健康? 怎样的心态最幸福? 亲近自然, 远离疾病; 淡泊简朴, 知足常乐......在上周五举办的第三届"银祥杯"《我的健康生活》双语征文颁奖典礼上, 获奖者及嘉宾精彩独到的诠释为我们带来了一个展现全新健康理念的夜晚.



The sultry evening of July 15th beheld an even hotter scene in Room 1615 of the Xiamen Daily Building. The award ceremony for the third "Yinxiang Cup," "My Healthy Life" bilingual writing competition brought Yinxiang, a food producing enterprise, Common Talk, and Xiamen Daily leaders, guests, and prizewinners together.

The Yinxiang Group, a leading producer of meat products, and Common Talk, the first bilingual newspaper in Fujian Province were both established in 2002, and have both experienced uneven periods on the road to development. According to Su Yongyu, vice-president of the Yinxiang Group, engaging in healthy careers is the common pursuit that has led to collaboration with Common Talk and to possibilities for further mutual cooperation.

Although of short duration, the award ceremonies for the "Yinxiang Cup" have nevertheless created a lasting excitement and passion among attendees. Why does the Yinxiang Group jointly support this competition? As Suky, a teacher from Xiamen University who won the first prize for the Chinese group observed, "When I first noticed Yinxiang marketing their products with e-cards, I thought it was nothing special. Later on, I sincerely admired their innovation, leadership, and far-sighted strategies." With just such professional foresight, Yinxiang has forged its cooperation with Common Talk.

While "health" is a frequently used word in our daily lives, more and more people are perplexed and invaded by unhealthy factors in their lives, endangered by counterfeit or shoddy products, such as contaminated food, or entrapped in a vicious circle of overwork and "overdrawn" health. To live a healthy, happy life has become the contemporary common sense in modern society.

Jessie, the top prizewinner in the English group depicted her unique way to acquire a healthy life. "Nature is where I’ve always found true happiness and touched the essence of life. Staying with nature not only enriches my knowledge and keeps me physically fit, but also comforts my soul and refreshes my spirit. Keeping close to nature rejuvenates me."

Hu Xuan, a young high school teacher impressed us with his vivid and humorous sketch of a teacher’s simple yet colorful healthy life.

Nick-named Happy, Hong Jianfu brought double happiness to his wife and daughter. Being the winner of two second prizes, Happy jokingly remarked, "I’m still happy even if I’ve lagged behind this time." Smiling habitually, he looked at his wife who has also won a prize. With his optimism and amazing willpower, Happy seems to have discovered the key to happiness. "A contented mind is a perpetual feast," this is Happy’s motto and source of health.

Chen Xiao Shan, who escaped from the torture of a malignant tumor and other diseases, touched the audience with her dauntlessness in face of misfortunes. "Eating healthy food is beneficial to our body; good nutrition is crucial to regaining confidence in our health." After years of strenuous effort, Xiao Shan has become a columnist for several papers.

Producing healthy, environmentally-friendly food and promoting healthy lifestyles are the respective goals of the Yinxiang Group and Common Talk, to serve society. As Yayu, Chief Editor of Common Talk concluded, "Both sides are aiming to create and maintain a renowned brand; both present a brighter future and expect to develop further cooperation in the future."

Write happily



Taking part in such a bilingual writing competition is always a pleasure for me. First, writing is for most people an arduous job and a challenge. I am no exception. But when a satisfactory essay is finally accomplished after a nights’ effort, happiness fills my heart. Secondly, writing is a good way to release one’s pent up emotions. To share my experience or ideas with others is an exhilarating process. Thirdly, by seizing opportunities to write for a newspaper like Common Talk, I may be just lucky enough to have my articles published. Happiness, I have discovered, nearly always rebounds from hard work such as writing.

Expecting CT to be a giant



每个人都渴望能够站在巨人的肩上.
虽然Common Talk现在还不是一个巨人, 但是它努力为读者提供了一个又一个的机会, 打造了一个又一个的平台, 使我们可以站在它的肩上, 登高望远, 胸怀世界, 展现自我, 超越梦想!
因此选择与Common Talk同行, 就是选择与这个日新月异精彩不断的时代同行, 与一种总是向上的充满希望的生活同行! 就是选择与这群优秀的人同行, 与青春和快乐同行!
而我今天得到的这个奖, 就是我在同行的路上所采撷到的一束鲜花. 其实生活的美好就是由这样点点滴滴的惊喜和快乐组成. 这种感觉是如此地美好!

Good spirit leads to good health



As a creature, I eat; as a person, I read; as a Common Talk lover, I write. For two years, I have written for this amusing newspaper. Here, I want to convey my great appreciation to Common Talk for providing me this stage for my writing. A proverb says, "The art of translation is just like dancing with fetters." Common Talk is such a good translator. It brings us different cultures and takes us to a new wonderland. Common Talk is a bridge connecting the cultures of East and West in Xiamen. I believe that it will become even more influential in the near future. Thanks, also, to the Yinxiang Group for supporting this competition and encouraging many readers to write articles. Good luck to every one. Never forget that a good spirit leads to good health.
