On hot summer days, quite a large group of young ladies will experience little appetite for rice and prefer eating fruit instead. Now comes a good opportunity for them. The Executive Chinese Chef of this hotel, Mr. Sam Sham, has created some unique fruit dishes combining fruit and other food, which cannot be found in other restaurants in town. Mr. Sham is a crazy enthusiast about creating new dishes with his rich cooking experience. Moreover, he loves traveling around China to taste new dishes everywhere. Thus, he has acquired quite a lot of the latest recipes.

The fruit dishes are no exception. Combining one kind of seasoned fruit with appropriate seafood or poultry, all these newly created dishes are highly attractive, tasty, and nutritious. They are difficult to refuse, since they tempt people so much.

Among the new dishes for this hot summer, stir-fried prawn with kiwi is highly recommended for guests. Along with its beautiful butterfly design, the dish is rich in Vitamin C, which is definitely helpful for skin care. Furthermore, this dish helped Mr. Sham win a major prize in Singapore.

Don't forget to order pudding after dinner. The strawberry pudding with a Hello Kitty shape will bring another climax to your tongue and bring a happy conclusion to the whole meal. It is so cute that even a guy will fall in love with it at first sight. This delicate pudding is more like a toy than food.

Christian Dior: synonym for elegance

Christian Dior, known to the world as an elegant French luxury brand, was named after its founder and first head designer, Christian Dior, whose surname in French means god and gold. Dior had a lifelong interest in, and commitment to, the arts, absorbing as many artistic elements as he could into his work.

In his early forties, Dior opened his own design house, with the financial backing of another successful businessman, Marcel Boussac.



February 12, 1947 was a significant day for Dior. From that date on, his business began to prosper. On that day, Dior held his first fashion show, one which had not been widely publicized. The collection, which included daytime outfits that weighed eight pounds and evening dresses that weighed sixty, was called the Corolla Collection and became known as the "new look". A stark contrast to the square, boxy, war-time fashions, the collection featured extravagant use of luxurious fabrics, rounded narrow shoulders, tightly cinched waists with full ankle-length skirts, which were quickly embraced by fashionable ladies but hated by ordinary housewives. An anecdote from the time tells the story of ladies in such outfits being attacked in the street and having their clothes cut to ribbons.



This innovative style invited a lot of dissent and controversy. The most violent censure of all came from Chanel, who declared, "Dior? He doesn't dress women, he upholsters them!" In spite of controversy, Dior kept on creating a romantic look, which emphasized luxury rather than comfort. His haute couture stressed feminine curves, plump breasts and bottoms, soft shoulders and wasp waists, so that the unique charms of women were perfectly presented. Dior not only made black the prevailing color, but also persuaded people that an elegant lady should change into four different apparel each day, since clothes were people's second skin. His luxurious evening dresses were always harmoniously balanced between tradition and creativity, classicality and smartness.



After Dior's sudden death in Italy in October 1957, Yves Saint Laurent became head designer and introduced the trapeze dress in his first collection for the house. After Saint Laurent came Marc Bohan and Gianfranco Ferre. Then in 1996, John Galliano, recognized as Dior's successor, took over. He created an equally feminine style, blending today's freedom of expression with a reminiscence of past affluence. In short, Dior continues its tradition of haute couture, and keeps the superb design style that caters to the aesthetic taste of the mellow ladies of the upper class. Needless to say, Christian Dior is a synonym for elegance.

 

 

Top female golfers to meet in Xiamen

The 3rd Orient Celebrity International Ladies' Professional Golf Competition run by the Chinese Golf Association and organized by Orient Golf International will be held from June 19 to July 5. The total prize will be one million RMB. As usual, at each course (Orient Shanghai, Orient Xiamen and Orient Beijing) before the game, there will be a training session for adolescent players.

There are over 60 players from the US, England, Australia, Malaysia, Japan, China Taipei and Mainland China attending this grand match. The Xiamen competition will be held on June 26th, this coming Sunday. The American player, Taya Battistella, the 2004 winner, will show up again and compete with all the other players. Chen Xiaohong from Xiamen was next to Taya in the last Orient Beijing competition.
