人类自身可以书写一部传奇, 也可以成为一部传奇. Gianni Versace(范思哲)做到了, 他塑造了两个传奇, Versace品牌张扬的美丽, 以及他本人唯美具有张力的人格, 赋予了Versace品牌生动的时尚元素.
在范思哲的有生之年, 近20年间, 他一直被时装界亲切地称呼为摇滚时装之王. 自1982年开始, 他的设计运用了大量绚丽的色彩和金饰品, 在动感的视觉效果中大胆地融入了古希腊和罗马的艺术风格, 成为其作品的主题追求. 1997年, 在范思哲辞世后, 他的妹妹Donatella沿袭他的风格, 并推陈出新, 在新的纪元里为Versace这个品牌注入了新的活力和时尚亮点. 简单总结Versace的风格, 可以归结为:精致俊逸, 款形高雅, 工艺考究.

Some human beings are creating history while others becoming history themselves. Gianni Versace, a world-renowned fashion designer, obviously belongs to the latter. Gianni Versace is a great fashion pioneer who combined the worlds of high style and popular culture, which really is one in a thousand in fashion history.



A designer to the stars, Versace brought vitality and art to an industry considered out of touch with reality. Though he started designing clothing in 1972 for other fashion companies, it wasn't until 1989 that he began designing couture. In less than 10 years, Versace built an empire worth $807 million. He used celebrities, including Madonna, Jon Bon Jovi and Tina Turner, as models for both the runway and print ads.

As a charismatic and accomplished designer of clothing and theatre costumes, he was influenced by Andy Warhol and modern abstract art. He also appreciated a range of historic attires, which he incorporated into his creations. Greek and Roman classic designs, 18th and 19th century gowns and the styles of the 1920's and 1930's were innovatively wed to new materials such as plastic, leather and metal mesh.



Versace has been referred to as the rock-and-roll designer and clients include Phil Collins, Bruce Springsteen, George Michael, Eric Clapton, Elton John and Michael Jackson. He has also made clothes for the Princess of Wales and Caroline of Monaco. In 1982, Versace opened a new chapter in his career, making costumes for the theatre, opera and ballet. He began a close collaboration with choreographer Maurice Bejart. He went on to design accessories, jewellery, furnishings, and china. However, glory couldn't be enjoyed by Versace himself, because he was gunned down outside his Miami Beach home at the mere age of 50.

In 1998 the Costume Institute of the Metropolitan Museum of New York held an exhibition of Gianni Versace's creations, from the ultra-classic to the cool and modern.



His style reflected the glory and magnificence of the Roman Empire - whether in designing clothing, interiors or accessories - and yet he greatly influenced and defined contemporary taste. Along with his sister and brother, Versace built a legend around the family name and forged an internationally powerful brand that is a byword for glamour and extravagance.
