Promote mainstream sculpture

漆线雕是闽南独有的艺术瑰宝, 为了让这门传统艺术发扬光大, 厦门优必德漆线雕艺术有限公司发起组织了这次漆线雕文化艺术节.

The opening of Youbide mainstream sculpture(漆线雕) art festival took place on Dec. 24 at the exhibition hall of Xiamen Library. Attendees were dazzled by arrays of mainstream sculptures as well as pictures on display.

Sponsored by South Fujian Culture Research Society and Youbide Mainstream Sculpture Art Co., Ltd., the event was held to promote and develop the Chinese traditional culture and to save the folk art of South Fujian. Delivering a speech at the opening, Xu Xiangming, the deputy director of Xiamen Culture Bureau said that our nation had been attaching great importance to protecting Chinese folk art and craftwork. Xiamen has also kicked off a project in this regard. Mainstream sculpture is recognized domestically and internationally for its splendid appearance and fine craft. It is believed that the traditional art will be generated to new heights through this activity.

Other lacquer(漆) art pieces like lacquer paintings were also on display, including a new renovated form called mainstream sculpture painting which stands somewhere between mainstream sculpture and lacquer painting.

The festival lasted for five days with a series of activities being held such as a promotional autograph signing that ten thousand people attended and a professional seminar on mainstream sculpture craft and market promotion. For those who missed the opening exhibition of the festival, there will be a show on Youbide mainstream sculpture masterwork held at No. 118 Jingshang Road and No.1-12 Jianye Road respectively, which will last till Jan. 15, 2005.

About mainstream sculpture

"Mainstream sculpture" is the treasure of traditional arts and crafts within the area of South Fujian, China, which has been enjoying popularity for nearly three hundred years. It is golden carved lacquer ware with enamel-insulated wire(漆线). The enamel-insulated wire is made from special materials that have been hammered thousands of times and then rubbed into wire. With exquisite pattern in relief, the carved lacquer ware is made by twisting, coiling(卷) and piling up the hair-like wires. The resulting pattern then is insulated with 24K gold. Artisans, to project the unique cultural aroma of the Chinese nation, superb and resplendent, carefully handcraft each finished piece.

Youbide's mainstream sculptures gather together the essences of Jingdezhen ceramic, the romantic charm of Fuzhou bodiless lacquer and the splendor of Beijing Cloisonne enamel. It imbibes traditional techniques from South Fujian civilian sculptors and is instilled with the cultural flavor of the Chinese nation and the color of South Fujian.

Celine Dion是很多人最喜欢的一位欧美流行女歌手, 可能也是我最早认识的欧美歌手之一. 十几年前, 90年代中期的大学生因为那首著名的"The Power of Love" 而认识了这位来自加拿大的女歌手, 殊不知"The Power of Love" 是Celine Dion翻唱的歌曲, 那时侯她留着一头金色的长发. 1997年的电影《泰坦尼克号》, 一首"My Heart will Go on"使Celine Dion被数十亿的听众所认识, 城乡结合部的小吃店也天天放这首歌, 那时侯Celine Dion已经剪短了她的一头秀发.

后来, Celine Dion嫁给了一个白胡子中年人, 和他生了个宝宝, 这个中年人后来生病差点死掉, Celine Dion在家里悉心照顾自己的宝宝和丈夫, 淡出歌坛两年. 这两年, 她为人妻, 为人母, 2002年她出版了《A new day has come》专辑, 便是她这两年的真情感受.

2004年10月Celine Dion推出了她的最新专辑《爱的奇迹(Miracle)》. 这张专辑不同于以往任何一张专辑, 是Celine Dion和国际著名的婴儿摄影家Anne Geddes共同合作的产物, 用温暖的音乐和深情的摄影来表现母爱的伟大和婴儿的可爱. Celine Dion非常爱自己的孩子, 对于这张专辑她融入了许多生活当中与孩子之间的真情实感, 并用自己的歌声声情并茂地表达了这份情感. Celine Dion和Anne Geddes都认为每一个来到这个世界上的新生命都是一个奇迹, 而这个奇迹的根源来自于我们内心的真情. 专辑当中选用了在以往专辑中出现过并在国内引进发行的两首曲目"If I Could"和"What a Wonderful World", 再另行创作了11首最新曲目合成了这张专辑. 首支主打单曲"爱的奇迹(Miracle)"在Sunshine FM中已经作了数周的推荐, 本周荣登Sunshine Top 10榜首.

 

 

Landscape oil paintings on show



On Dec. 25, the 10th Xiamen Oil Painting Society Membership Exhibition & the first Xiamen Landscape Oil Painting Exhibition opened on the 6th floor of the Xiamen Workers' Culture Palace Building.
Xu Li, the director of the society spoke proudly of the achievements by Xiamen artists in the field. "The election rate of Xiamen oil paintings into the National Fine Arts Exhibition topped Fujian Province in the past years." He said, "It is also uncommon for a local oil painting society to hold a membership exhibition for ten consecutive years, which in fact well explains the strength and high level of Xiamen artists."
The subject of this exhibition is solely devoted to landscape. There are over 50 oil paintings on the show depicting either local, domestic or foreign landscapes. The wide variety of styles and features will surely not disappoint you.
The exhibition will conclude on Dec. 30.

 

Masters cooperate

Cooperating with Xiamen Philharmonic Orchestra, the famed overseas Chinese conductor Dong Ling and cellist Lan Jie conquered Xiamen music lovers with their excellent depiction of Rokoko-Variationen, String Serenade, "The Knight of the Rose" Suite and other pieces on Dec. 24.
