Time to relax

Being a man in this world can sometimes be a bit unfair to say the least. Sure, girls can argue that they have to deal with having babies, monthly menstruation and bad hair days but guys get left out of so much of the world that women are free to enjoy. Women seem to have a huge benefit especially when it comes to relaxation and to describe exactly the unfairness I'm talking about, two words will do the job, "beauty salon".

What? Don't girls go to beauty salons to look prettier? Achieving beauty is only a small part of the relaxing aspect of beauty salons. Let's take a look at what women do at beauty salons: Facials, body massages and spending time "relaxing" in steam rooms. These are all activities that any man would enjoy just as much as women. The problem is that most guys are too embarrassed to go into a quote unquote "beauty salon" and take part in these "girly" activities.

Men of Xiamen, feel embarrassed no longer because there is a newly opened relaxation parlor for men with an all male staff. Activities like sitting back in a sauna or steam-room, taking a bath in aromatic water and getting a body massage or facial are all very manly and open for your taking. Don't worry about how to get there either because a private van will pick you up at your doorstep or any other location you would like them to.

Options and Services

When the private van arrives outside the shopping center where the relaxation parlor is located an employee from the parlor meets and escorts you to the front desk. There you are met by the all male staff who are eager to help you in any way they can. The services offered are wide in variety from full service to a quick trip to the sauna, and you can pick and choose any to meet your needs.

If you aren't sure what you want, you can take a quick tour of the facility first. Once inside the inner room you feel almost as if you have entered a cabin in the woods. To the right there are three rooms containing the shower(淋浴), sauna(桑拿), and steam room(蒸汽房), all outlined with a beautiful architectural design among an extremely ambient and serene atmosphere. Directly in front of you, across the small wooden bridge, you can see the private bathing rooms(私人浴室), each equipped with a variety of bath salts and relaxing aromatic oils. And finally, to your left are two massage rooms equipped with unique themes and clean, high quality massage beds(按摩床).

The entire facility gives off a strong glow of relaxation. Actually, that's exactly what the owner, a competent former doctor from the famous #174 Hospital in Xiamen, had in mind when she built it. She wants to stress that unlike other health spas, her parlor is not trying to provide any other service besides relaxation. The doctor also wants to point out that this is the only parlor in town that has an all male staff and such a strong focus, not on health, but on simple relaxation.

Full service

If you choose the full service option you will first be led to the private changing room where you are given a fresh towel and a key to the security locker that will hold your belongings. Then you take a shower in order to ensure that the cleanliness of the facility is maintained. At this point you can choose steam room or sauna, where your body can sweat out extra toxins to enhance your relaxation experience.

After the steam room you are whisked away to one of the personal bathing rooms where warm water has already been drawn and bath salts and essential oils have been added to help you relax. While basking in the warm fragrant water, one of the attendants will scrub your back with a light exfoliating cream that leaves you feeling clean and comfortable.

The best part, which is usually only available to women, comes next; the hot oil massage and facial. You are led to a clean bed and asked to lie face down while the professional masseur spreads scented oil on your back and legs. Throughout the massage you are treated to the sound of peaceful music playing lightly in the background and wonderful smells from the oil being used. After your body massage, the masseur comfortably massages your face.

Afterwards it's off to the shower for a quick rinse before you return to the changing room. Once you have put your clothes on you reluctantly reenter the lobby where you are expecting to be bombarded by the hustle and bustle of the real world. However, instead there is buttered toast and a hot cup of ginger tea awaiting you on a pleasant looking tray. And as you are returning home in the private van, the memories of your visit will linger delightfully in your mind.
