Beauty is truth

第十届全国美展厦门雕塑展开展的近一个月里,厦门的普通百姓得以与全国一流的雕塑作品近距离接触,并为他们心目中的佳作投下神圣一票.本文作者也在观赏过程中,一次次地感受到美的震撼.

Chen Wenling and his works



Five Xiamen sculptures were selected to present in this exhibition among which Chen Wenling's "Happy Life" was nominated for the bronze prize which is the best achievement in Xiamen's sculpture history. When talking about his sculpture Chen Wenling says that he used a humorous and exaggerative way to show the love between the aged. His "Happy Life" has a very bright color and the expression of the old woman is the concentration of one word happy which fits his idea well.

After so many years, I still remember a verse Keats had said: Beauty is truth, truth beauty. It seems that the pursuit of beauty has been there ever since our existence.


No. 194 Wind of Olympics

The other day, I went to the 10th National Exhibition of Arts, China 2004. When facing hundreds of sculptures, I was thrilled with a sudden arousal of a sense of beauty, as I felt the belief of beauty that all the sculptors had placed in their works. I found all the sculptures were mounted on sand, which became the greatest ornament of the exhibition. With this special background, the beauty created by God and that created by human beings were united.

Throngs of people swarmed to the exhibition, and many of them were taking photos to remember the beauty. However, I brought nothing with me: all that I had was my silent stare and my devout heart.


No. 183 Recall of childhood

The difference of styles was obvious in the hall: some were realistic, some were abstract, some were careful with every little detail, some conveyed a special meaning through a blurry image, some were decorated with the happiness of modern society, and some expressed a comprehensive emotion for the past. There was no doubt that each piece of the sculptures had its supporters, as everybody has his own definition of beauty, but to me, those sculptures with a traditional charm, a reflection of history, and a deep theme of time may have moved me most. It was really fortunate that there were some of this kind, and I lingered before them, as if there were some crazy art genes in my blood.

Not far away from the entrance, there were sculptures named "Marks of the time" (No. 008). In this set of sculptures, five aged men and women sat in chairs, comfortable and relaxed, but the five of them were looking in different directions and their eyes were dim, their skin was loose and their expressions were a bit sad. There were tables between each of them, and I saw a pot and a cup on two different tables. All these details revealed a sense of being lost and a sense of insignificance before the circles of time.


No. 188 City romance

The beauty of nature is a legend, and we cannot even imitate this unique design, but human beings can create a brand new beauty through their heart and hands. God creates "beauty", while man diffuses the "beauty".

可以想像如果我在一个大舞台向人群提出这样的问题,我会被欢呼的潮水所淹没.喜欢刘天王的人的确太多了.当我听说刘德华要在中国展开大规模的巡回演唱会时,我的第一反应是负面的.因为我知道刘德华演唱会的排场有多大,我在想,如果把这些上千万的资金用来资助那些有才华的年轻原创音乐人,该有多好,这样就会有更多更优秀的音乐人崛起了,许巍就不会等到三十好几才让大家认识,F.I.R.也许早几年就该出头了.

有着这样的冲动,以至于我在BBS上发了一个帖子,说我厌恶刘德华演唱会.现在想想,觉得自己有些过,因为我似乎也没那么讨厌刘德华.许多人喜欢他还是有道理的,比如他的亲善,形象健康,演技娴熟(《十面埋伏》除外).所有这些都构成了刘德华强大的号召力.我想我只是单纯从音乐的角度上否定他的价值而已.

但是当一个人的各方面魅力交织在一起的时候,你已经分不清到底是什么在吸引你了.想当年,另一位天王黎明在北京工体开演唱会爆满,而与此同时美国乡村歌手约翰·丹佛演唱会的上座率却不足40%.于是有乐评人在北京青年报上感慨说中国听众的欣赏层次有待提高.我不完全同意这样的说法,但是目前为止也不知道该说些什么.

告诉你我想干嘛吧,我希望让更多的人欣赏到更多形式的流行音乐,让人们认识到原来流行音乐的海洋那么的宽广无垠而博大精深,那么的琳琅满目.希望有朝一日,人们在喜爱天王刘德华的同时,也知道有那么多类型的音乐值得去细细品尝.(本栏目由FM90.9厦广音乐台Sunshine FM(www.fm909.com.cn)供稿.
