Make a mistake
Edited by Linda
Picture by Zhu Lijun
If a barber makes a mistake, it is a new style;
If a driver makes a mistake, it is an accident;
If a doctor makes a mistake, it is an operation;
If parents make a mistake, it is a new generation;
If a politician makes a mistake, it is a new law;
If a scientist makes a mistake, it is a new invention;
If a tailor makes a mistake, it is a new fashion;
If a teacher makes a mistake, it is a new theory;
If you make a mistake,
it is your mistake;
If your boss makes a mistake, it is your mistake.
If your girlfriend makes a mistake, it is your mistake.
If your mother-in-law makes a mistake, it is definitely your mistake.
And if you let them know they made a mistake,
that would be the biggest mistake you’ve ever made…
By Suky
1. Do you have any pet peeves?
例如常听老美抱怨, "Don't you think he is annoying?"
2. Are you sure you are going to set us up?
I can fix you up."
3. Probably. It's still up in the air.
另外 "It's up in the air." 例如别人问你, "Are you dating Jennifer now?" 你就可以答, "It's up in the air."
4. Okay. Just checking.
5. Just in the right place, at the right time.
例如在美国中国留学生常有免费的T 恤、CD可拿的,美国人问起的时候,就很潇洒地回答他, "Just in the right place, at the right time, no big deal." )
6. Exactly. That's what I'm talking about.
"Absolutely!"

Chef's Profile: This chef is not just any chef, not only does he know everything there is to know about cooking, but also he is an absolute guru in Engish writing. Therefore, if you ever feel hungry or stuck in your English writing, you should go ask the Chef! |
Chef

I would rather be ashes than dust! I would rather that my spark should burn out in a brilliant blaze than it should be stifled by dry rot. I would rather be a superb meteor, every atom of me in magnificent glow, than a sleepy and permanent planet. The proper function of man is to live, not to exist. I shall not waste my days in trying to prolong them. I shall use my time.
