Mobiles and my life
By Freda
My mobile phone, to me, is not just an easy-taking tool for contact with others.
I look on it as part of my private life. Here I'd like to use "she" to call
it. Sometimes she is a good secretary, collecting fussy numbers for me; sometimes
she is my personal poster, sending my words and receiving my messages. Sometimes
she is my toy when I am bored in a meeting. So, you can see how much I depend
on her! Now I want to tell you the stories between her and me.
When I was a junior in the university, mum sent her to me as a gift for my
birthday. I still remember when I got her. I kept it in the palm of my hand
for the whole afternoon. I liked her delicate shape and pleasing color very
much. In the following days, she brought much happiness to my roommates and
me.
At that time, I was the only person who owed a mobile phone in my dormitory,
so I felt very proud of her; at the same time, I became the so-called "message
center" of my dormitory. Whenever my roommates wanted to buy food (they were
always hungry) or anything else they needed, they just sent a SMS to me so
that everything was solved. So they always said: "want of Freda, want of convenience."
I enjoyed the "job" a lot. When I heard the melodious sound of SMS, I became
joyful to open the message, because there were funny words and figures made
of punctuations and marks in the messages. The SMS always kept me in good
mood.
Now I am a civil servant in the Local Tax Bureau for over a year. I like my
job, because my work is for the nation's benefit. Well, you know what, my
job is related with "SMS" too! We inform and remind taxpayers of some important
issues by SMS. For example, I, as one of the tax administrator, when I want
to inform some taxpayers to deal with their matters about tax as soon as possible,
I can send a notice to the local network, then the data centre will transfer
my information to the communication system, so my notice is soon available
in the registered mobile phones of the taxpayers.
By SMS, we also can send new tax policies without delay. Taxpayers appreciate
the measures we are taking to bring convenience to them.
To me, I am very interested in my present job, because it is up to date. I
enjoy doing my job through various modern channels. SMS is really a lovely
item to me. Most of my schoolmates work in other cities. I always send my
greetings to them by SMS. Sometimes it is much better to send a SMS to express
your feelings than speaking them out, whether it is a greeting, apology or
private chat.
Oh, I hear the music of SMS from my mobile phone now, is it Qiqi, Catherine
or Dale, SMS always brings surprise to me. It is just a piece of broadcasting
news. Well, not bad.
