Xiamen is holding its first carnival at the end of this month. The
following is an interview with Ms Xie, Marketing Director of the Xiamen
Carnival.
Q: What's the exact time the carnival begins and how long will it
last?
A: The carnival will start on January 22. It will last for 45
days till March 7.
Q: Could you introduce some of the exciting events at the Xiamen
Carnival?
A: What we have for the Xiamen Carnival is about 30-40 kinds
of rides and games, including the Astroliner X 10 (神舟十号), the Booster
(飞天无敌大旋转), the Flume Ride (激流勇士)and the Mummy Returns Tide(古埃及奇遇).
Q: How many visitors do you expect at the Xiamen Carnival?
A: The Shanghai Carnival just finished last summer with the number
of visitors during the two months reaching 1,300,000. For the
Transworld-Festival in Xiamen, we surely expect more to come especially
during the Chinese New Year holidays.
Q: I just heard that the carnival is recruiting students. How many
staff are you going to hire?
A: About 700. That is more than that of the Shanghai Carnival last
year, which employed 600, because the Xiamen Carnival will cover a
larger area.
Q: How will you train these staff?
A: We are veterans in this area. We will train them systematically according to the jobs they take. For example, actors and project assistants will receive different training. On December 28, we also had a recruiting fair at Jimei University. It was fantastic with so many students eager to be involved in this event. I am quite sure these smart students will learn quickly. We also decided to hire some cooks this time. Unlike the Shanghai Carnival, at which food suppliers from outside were allowed to enter and sell their food, Xiamen Carnival is going to supply our own food. Visitors will not only have a great time, but will also be able to taste some fantastic food.
