China ranked 67th
The Chinese national soccer team is currently ranked 62nd according to the FIFA World Ranking. The highest ever ranking the team has held was 37th in December 1998.

World Cup draw announced
China have been drawn alongside Kuwait, Malaysia and Hong Kong in Group 4 of the AFC 2006 World Cup qualifying round, it was announced recently.

China PRC face Hong Kong
China PRC face Hong Kong tonight (16:30 kick-off) in the next round of the East Asian Football Championships currently underway in Japan. China lost 2 - 0 to Japan last Thursday and 1 - 0 to Korea on Sunday following a 22-man brawl mid-game. Also playing tonight are Japan and South Korea (19:15 kick-off). The inaugural East Asian Championships are being played now after being postponed in May due to SARS.
