Space hero returns
杨利伟,中国的“加加林”
Yang Liwei, China's first space man, spent about 21 hours in the outer
space before the capsule of the Shenzhou V spaceship landed safely in
the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, Oct. 16. Yang said he felt good.
Premier Wen Jiabao said China's first manned spaceflight was a
"complete success".

American Illusionist, David Blaine, begins to cry as his transparent
box is lowered Oct. 19 near Tower Bridge in London after he spent 44
days in isolation inside the suspended compartment with only water to
drink.
Building owner sued for putting up mural

A worker puts the finishing touches on an Arnold Schwarzenegger mural
on a side of a building in Los Angeles Thursday, Oct. 16. A city
attorney has filed a criminal complaint against the building owner who
allowed Warner Bros. to put up the mural.
Jakarta fishlook exhibition
雅加达金鱼展:价值835美元的中国金鱼
A golden fish, which came from China priced at 835 USD is displayed
during Fishlook 2003 exhibition in Jakarta, Oct. 16. Three countries,
Indonesia, Singapore and Malaysia, are participating in the seven-day
exhibition to find the nicest coloured and shaped golden fish.
"Queen Elizabeth" at the art fair

constructed from colored paper by London artist Hew Locke at the Frieze
Art Fair in London, Oct. 16. The fair is a major new international
event including work from 124 galleries, from 16 different countries,
housed in a specially constructed 11,000 square meter space in Regent's
Park.

a member of the monotreme family which are mammals that lay eggs and
produce milk for their young.

Japanese traditional raftsmen in a lumber yard perform their stunt
riding on floating square lumbers at a local festival in Tokyo, Oct.
19. The stunt derived from their daily work in the Edo period
(1603-1868). In those days they made rafts with fire-hooks in their
hands while standing on floating lumbers.
Japanese student crosses the Pacific Ocean
日本学生成功独自驾船横渡太平洋
Kyosuke Tomoda, a 26-year-old student at Doshisha University, smiles
aboard his 8-meter-long yacht named ''For You'' in San Francisco on
Oct. 17 after he succeeded in crossing the Pacific Ocean alone on the
vessel.
